Amid the vicissitudes that have beset the entire world since the end of World War II, Taiwan has been steadily pushing its way forward toward greater modernization and cultural self-identification. This process of transition, adaptation, and innovation has affected the traditional life-patterns of the fifteen million Chinese living here. Their struggles, triumphs, setbacks, and sufferings have naturally found an echo in literature. Feeling that Taiwan's literary output for this quarter of a century would be of significant interest to people in other parts of the world, we have collected and translated the materials for this anthology-the first of its kind.
The chief purpose of this anthology is to present the most representative work of the best writers writing during this period. Our aim bas simply been to make available to an international audience the poems, essays, and short stories that otherwise could be enjoyed only by readers of Chinese.
Since our contemporary literature is the outgrowth of a very long and rich tradition, an acquaintance with the tradition will make these works more meaningful to tbe modern reader. Hence, we offer the following brief sketch of the Chinese literary tradition. |

本書銜接李登元著乳牛學（商務印書館大學叢書）為本，加入本土研究資料，以台灣為主體，供教學或酪農專技人員之研修，以加速荷蘭乳牛之在地化，促進酪農產業之生根發展。 第壹卷發展酪農的重要性開始，分述酪農乳的生產為實際之在地農業。第貳卷乳牛的改良，分質與量之不同形質遺傳之改良法加速改進我國乳牛，以血統登記與種牛登錄之手段。第參卷乳牛的生殖生理與人工繁殖，除人工授精外，指出我國於乳牛胚處理與核分切移置等屬生物技術高科技之諸多成就，加速乳牛改良育種。第肆卷乳牛的營養與飼料，以本土草地之管理利用，與粗料之生產利用實為降低牛乳生產成本之所在。 第伍卷乳牛的飼養管理，以專業酪農戶為標的講求經營規模與提高效率，增加所得之軟體與硬體設施諸方法。 第陸卷牛乳的加工與利用，為配合現時產製銷合一之國家政策，除注重生產外亦應考慮產品之加工與消費者之需要，特加有自生乳至鮮乳之加工法與諸乳品製造法，以提升產乳之附加價值。 |
